1.      Start with a one-time dose between 40 and 70 milligrams of kavalactones. If your bottle says it contains 150 mg of kava with a content of kavalactones at 30 percent, then 150 mg X 30% is about 45 mg of kavalactones.(Taking your first dose of kava in the late afternoon or evening is a good option. 2.      If the low dose provides no effects within 2-3 hours, then you could try taking an additional capsule.

3.      The next day, if you did not notice an effect from kava, you could take more. If you took 50 mg of kavalactones then you could increase it to 70-80 mg. Again if there has been no effect within 2-3 hours then you could take another capsule.

4.      If the kava did not provide you with any effects the first couple of days, then you could increase your dosage to 100 mg of kavalactones. You should notice an effect at this dosage. Some individuals require a higher dosage than others initially to feel any effects. Once you feel an effect, you can generally be more attuned to feel similar effects at lower doses.
